Training

CIET has committed to a considerable, and ongoing, investment in personnel, systems, procedures and ancillary resources. This commitment allows us to develop and implement quality power line construction and refurbishment programmes to meet our clients' exacting specifications.

CIET's most valuable asset is our staff. This is where we make our most significant investment. In return, we have what we believe to be a committed, flexible, cost conscious, safety focused team, which enables us to deliver quality projects.

CIET provides comprehensive, approved training programmes for staff and contractors. Our training capabilities include:

City & Guilds

CIET are an accredited, approved and registered City and Guilds Training Centre.  This is the only City and Guilds Centre in Ireland that can award a National Vocational Qualification in Electrical Power Engineering and Overhead Lines (2339-13 Level 2 and 2339-33 Level 3). The internal training provided by CIET meets all ESB standards. In addition to this, the NVQ City & Guilds qualification ensures that CIET are the most technically qualified power line contractors in the country.

Power Line Construction, Refurbishment and Utility Skills

Training - Reaching Your Potential

Meet Tom McGinty. Ten years ago, Tom had never climbed an electricity pole. He had never earthed a power line or knew about the importance of electrical polarity testing. Today, he is a Chargehand with CIET. "I had worked in construction for years," Tom says, "When I saw new power lines being erected in my locality, I wondered if there could be a future career in it for me?”

To qualify as a power line technician, Tom participated in CIET's comprehensive training programmes. "Working at height in all weathers with electric overhead conductors requires sound judgement", he explains, "Judgement is obtained from experience and ongoing training in both practical skills and safety procedures".
